This document outlines what ‘cookies’ are, which cookies are used by fitpro.com (and its subdomains), how to switch cookies off in your browser and some useful links for further reading on the subject. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are stored by the browser (e.g., Internet Explorer or Google Chrome) on your computer or mobile phone. They allow websites to store things such as user preferences. Cookies basically provide a ‘memory’ for the website, enabling it to recognise a user and respond appropriately.
How does fitpro.com use cookies?
Visiting a page on fitpro.com (and its subdomains), fitpromusic.co.uk and fitproshop.com may create the following types of cookie:

- Registration cookies

Site performance cookies
A site performance cookie remembers your preferences for tools found on fitpro.com, so you don’t have to set these each time you visit (e.g., items added to your shopping basket).
Anonymous analytics cookies
Every time a user visits our website, third party web analytics software generates an anonymous analytics cookie, which can tell us whether or not you have visited the site before.
Your browser will tell us if you have these cookies and, if you don’t, we generate new ones. This allows us to see how many individual unique users we have and how often they come to visit our site.
Unless you are signed in to FitPro, these cookies cannot be used to identify you; they are used for statistical purposes only. If you are logged in, we will be able to identify the details you gave to us, such as your username and email address.
Registration cookies
When you register with FitPro, cookies are generated that show whether or not you are signed in. Our servers use these cookies to discern which account you have signed in with.
While you are signed in to one of our sites, we take the information from your registration cookies and combine it with analytics cookies, which we could use to identify which pages you have visited on the FitPro website.
Third party cookies
On some pages of fitpro.com (and its subdomains), fitpromusic.co.uk and fitproshop.com, third parties may also generate their own anonymous cookies to customise the application for you or to track the success of their application. Because of the way cookies work, fitpro.com (and its subdomains), fitpromusic.co.uk and fitproshop.com cannot access these cookies, and nor can the third parties access the data in cookies used by fitpro.com (and its subdomains), fitpromusic.co.uk and fitproshop.com.
One example of third party cookies in action happens when sharing an article via a social media button – the social network responsible for the button will record this information. Also, when viewing a video via a third party, the third party will record this.
How do I turn cookies off?
It is usually possible to stop your browser from accepting cookies, or to stop it accepting cookies from a particular website. For example, we are unable to know whether you have added an item to your basket without using cookies, so you would be unable to purchase items.
