FitPro’s very own Teresa Wheatley was honoured to be awarded The Fitness Industry Luminary Award at the Heart and Soul Fitness Awards held in Aberdeen earlier this month. Here she recovers from the wonderful surprise!
The Fitness Industry Luminary Award is given to an individual who is truly dedicated to the advancement of others within the fitness industry, so of course Team FitPro was thrilled to see our very own Executive Director, Teresa, receiving said award at the aptly named Heart and Soul Fitness Awards this month. Not only that, but Teresa was also a finalist in the Fitness Industry Legend UK category.
According to the Heart and Soul Fitness Awards, The Fitness Industry Luminary Award is bestowed on a person “whose dedication to the advancement of others within the fitness industry is unmatched. Through unwavering support, continuous training and the provision of developmental courses, they have empowered countless instructors and individuals to reach new heights of excellence. Their commitment to sharing knowledge and fostering growth has made a profound and lasting impact on the fitness community, exemplifying the true essence of mentorship and leadership in the field.”
Teresa said, “It’s an incredible honour to be awarded The Fitness Industry Luminary Award. I’m humbled and still utterly gobsmacked. Thank you to Karen Gibson and team for your tireless work in creating these awards and for raising us all up. Blessed!
“I have so many people to thank for believing in me and giving me opportunities where I thrive. I now get to deliver that in my role FitPro. I still don’t know the people who nominated me or all the people who voted for me, but I think there must be some of our wonderful FitPro members in that group. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.”
She added, “I have been blown away by the personal messages I’ve received – it’s amazing how many people champion each other in this industry. I truly believe that championing is how we grow better together. I’m proud of myself and proud of what everyone achieves together – there’s only one way I’d have got an award like this and that’s through people giving me opportunities to thrive and through my deep passion to effect change. It’s never really felt like a job or a duty but instead it feels like something I could never not do. Thank you to all the people who have believed in me.”
