Rich Boggs, co-founder and former CEO of MOSSA, has died, the company has announced.

Rich co-founded The Step Company, which now trades as MOSSA, in 1989 and led the organisation for more than three decades before stepping down as CEO in 2020. During his tenure, he played a key role in growing the company into a global fitness brand while fostering a culture centred on people, optimism and personal development.

Widely known in the fitness industry as ‘Big Rich’, Rich earned a reputation as an entrepreneur, mentor and relationship-builder. Colleagues say his enthusiasm and belief in others helped shape the careers of employees, partners and industry professionals around the world.

In announcing his passing, MOSSA President and CEO Terry Browning described Rich as a long-time mentor, colleague and close friend whose leadership was guided by a commitment to people and purpose. Terry said Rich was known for valuing character, passion and potential above titles or backgrounds, a philosophy that became a defining feature of the company’s culture. Terry added, “While we mourn his loss, we also celebrate a remarkable life and the lasting impact he had on so many people. The values, optimism and passion that Rich brought to MOSSA continue to guide us today.”

A memorial service is scheduled for 19th June 2026 at Morningside Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia. The family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in lieu of flowers.
