MOSSA’s Group Fight places second at The British Fitness Awards in the Combat-based Workout category

Here at MOSSA UK at FitPro, we were delighted to see our ever-popular Group Fight workout placing second at The British Fitness Awards.

MOSSA UK was voted for by our instructors and their participants and, thanks to their amazing enthusiasm for the programme, it was rewarded with second place at The British Fitness Awards, recognising the impact this programme has out there in the real world.

MOSSA’s strapline is ‘Let’s Move’ and Group Fight certainly exemplifies that in spades – inspiring participants from the back row to the front to move in their own way, kicking, punching and moving to uplifting tunes that allow them to ‘be themselves’ for that one hour of the day that enhances their physical and mental health.

Group exercise deserves to be recognised as a crucial component of getting the nation active, so events like this that shine the spotlight on what we deliver day in, day out are to be applauded. Well done to the team behind the scenes!

Teresa Wheatley, Executive Director at FitPro, was at the awards ceremony and was delighted to see MOSSA place second. She says, “My son Kofi and I attended the awards, which was a brilliant occasion. FitPro sponsored and presented the LGBTQ+ award and, as a result, Kofi and I got to see MOSSA announced as second place, which was so exciting. There were huge cheers in the room!”

Holly Lynch, MOSSA instructor and multi-award winning PT, was also there, saying; As an instructor, Group Fight is literally one of my favourite sessions to teach because the workout is so fun, and so well structured and feels new every single release – which considering I’ve been teaching it since 2014 is incredible!! Its structure makes it easy to learn, and the movements can be regressed and progressed with ease, which makes it super achievable for almost all of my clients. Having the huge honour of then being able to present Group Fight at fitness events across the UK is a dream- as I get to showcase this fantastically fun and fierce workout!

Also, as a studio manager, having such a high quality pre-choreo based class on the timetable creates repeat custom – as members know what they are getting. We have literally had members join our studio BECAUSE we do the MOSSA programmes – which is wonderful. The fact that instructors can hold their own licence and we don’t then also have to pay a very expensive facility licence is a game changer for us as a small business.”

MOSSA is a pioneer in the pre-choreographed group fitness space and is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary, so this is a fitting tribute to this much-loved brand. Group Fight has been under the FitPro licence since 2016 and just shy of 50% of the UK MOSSA instructors teach Group Fight, while an incredible 100% of the instructors in the UAE teach it.

MOSSA’s globally acclaimed, inclusive programmes have a strong focus on movement health, incorporating moves that affect daily life. Each programme’s music selection is a huge motivational driver and is always in the top two reasons participants and instructors alike rave about the workouts.

Lynne Briggs, Client Support for MOSSA, concludes, “FitPro is the UK, Europe and UAE distributor for the MOSSA brand. As a leader and innovator of instructor support and education, these workout formats sit perfectly within FitPro’s mission to educate and support. FitPro has a long pedigree and garners much respect in the group exercise space, so the partnership with a world-class brand is a no brainer.”
