Aims and objectives of course:

  • Understand the different types of carbohydrates and the different classification terms and definitions
  • Gain an understanding on the effect of the different carbohydrates on blood glucose control
  • Know how a low carbohydrate diet is classified
  • Have a clear understanding of the research behind low carb diets and weight loss effects and implications
  • Be able to discuss the pros and a cons of following a low carb diet for weight loss
  • Have a clear understanding of the impact of low carb diets type II diabetes management, lipid levels and other metabolic health parameters
  • Gain a general understanding of personalised nutrition and its application
  • Be familiar with what a balanced diet for optimal health looks like.

Dr Linia Patel has a BSc degree in biochemistry and physiology and has recently achieved a PhD in public health. Linia is a leading dietitian and sports nutritionist. Her passion is translating nutritional science into easy-to-digest and practical advice.
