This month, the spotlight is on Income Protection Insurance.<\/h2>\n<p>Income Protection Insurance \u2013 it does exactly what it says on the tin. Should you not be able to earn your living due to an accident or illness, then Income Protection Insurance kicks in until you can get back to work.<\/p>\n<p>It is designed to provide financial security for an extended period, often lasting many years, potentially until retirement age. And, unlike other insurance policies, it continues without a formal annual renewal process.<\/p>\n<p>The amount you can get cover for is based on your age, general health, current income and how much you want to receive in the event of a claim. You&#8217;ll find more details below of what you will be asked for in the application process.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Application process<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nThe process for buying Income Protection Insurance can be very detailed and is best managed through a call with one of our qualified advisers.<\/h4>\n<p>An initial call will take somewhere between 20 and 45 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>The adviser will ask for personal information, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Name<\/li>\n<li>Date of Birth<\/li>\n<li>Address<\/li>\n<li>Occupation<\/li>\n<li>Height and weight and general health<\/li>\n<li>Any existing medical conditions<\/li>\n<li>Financial details, such as monthly earnings (think SA302 tax form)<\/li>\n<li>How much you would like to be paid each month in the event of a claim<\/li>\n<li>How much you would like to pay each month in premiums<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>Additional benefits<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nMost Income Protection Insurance products offer a range of extra benefits you can access through your policy. These might include:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Remote GP Service<\/li>\n<li>Remote Physiotherapy<\/li>\n<li>Prescription Services<\/li>\n<li>Remote Psychological Services<\/li>\n<li>Second Opinion<\/li>\n<li>Discounted Health MOTs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The benefits will vary from insurer to insurer, so it is always worth asking what else is included when you speak with our adviser.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Claims process<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nThere will be a waiting period from when an injury happens or illness occurs before you can claim. This is usually four weeks: it can be increased, which will reduce the premium you pay.<\/h4>\n<p>As long as the premiums are paid from a personal bank account (not a business account), then any claim payments are tax free.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Pricing examples<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nThe price you pay will vary based on your specific circumstances and needs.
