The kids are back at school and people are getting back into their normal routines which means that more prospects will walk through your doors. It's time to sharpen up your sales skills to maximise every sales opportunity. Give yourself an Autumn MOT and fine tune your sales skills.

To help you here are 11 rules of sales success.

Establish and maintain a POSITIVE ATTITUDE. Get and maintain a positive attitude because it's the driving force to success

Find your success formula through numbers. Determine how many leads, calls, prospects, appointments and follow ups it takes to get the sale. The best sales people in our industry know their numbers and success formula.

Sell to help. Don't be greedy, it will show. Go out of your way to provide the very best experience for the customer; don't sell for commission.

Believe in your company and product. If you don't believe in your product your prospect won't either. Believe that your facilities, activities and service are the best.

Be sincere. If you are sincere about helping people it will come across.

Establish common ground. Find things that will draw you and your prospect closer together. If you find that you both like golf or have kids you have found common ground.

Qualify. If you don't know what a prospect wants how can you show them that you have what they want. Invest time in getting to know your prospects needs and wants before you show them around your facility.

Close. The old rule of closing the sale still applies. If you don't ask for the sale the outcome will be a 'no'.

Be memorable. Stand out in a creative, professional and positive way. What will they say about you when they leave? Remember you  are responsible for the memory you leave.  

Practice. Practice your skills every day to reinforce your sales skills. Rehearse great questions, product benefits and answers to common buyer's concerns.  Remember that bad communication habits are detrimental to sales success. Be a 'master' of selling.

Learn new skills. Discipline yourself to a mental marathon of learning. Sales is a science of 'tested' communication techniques. Make sure that you are keeping updated with winning ways to enhance your performance.
