Class Structure
BODYVIVE™ is delivered by motivating instructors with the help of popular music which is familiar to participants. The programme is updated every three months with new choreography, music and instructor education resources.
***Following class trialling and feedback we have made some adjustments to the BODYVIVE™ programme structure***
The changes are as follows:
- All Heart Fitness and Functional Strength tracks are now grouped together in two blocks to improve the flow of the class and to maximise the training benefits.
- The two blocks are separated by the T ’ai Chi and Yoga track that transitions from one block to the other.
- Functional Strength tracks previously called Upper Body Strength and Hips and Upper Body Strength have been renamed Strength 1 and Strength 2 to allow for a different training focus with each release.
The changes are being formally introduced with BODYVIVE™ 3 and will be taught in the accompanying quarterly education session, but should also be applied where possible in BODYVIVE™ 1 and BODYVIVE™ 2 classes, with the tracks re-ordered as per the structure summary below.
BODYVIVE™ Class Structure
BODYVIVE™ begins with a simple warm up in the opening Heart Fitness block and continues with a transitional T’ai Chi and Yoga track before the Functional Strength block and a final block of core and restorative exercises.
Heart fitness
- Rise and Shine - The class opens with easy, flowing movements to warm and limber up the joints, often with a t’ai chi feel.
- Connect and Go - The movements get bigger and the heart rate faster as we introduce the VIVE™ ball to turn the focus towards the core. This is where we start to break a sweat and feel the challenge of the workout.
- Dance Cardio - Use your VIVE™ ball as a partner as you explore a variety of simple dance steps and rhythms. The moves promote good gait and hip mobility by shifting the body around to the music.
- Interactive Cardio - Class members work together in pairs or larger groups in a fun track based on walking.
- Fitness Cardio - Lift the heart rate again with big, simple, athletic moves, usually involving the VIVE™ ball.
T’ai Chi and Yoga
- T’ai Chi and Yoga - Drop down a gear to focus on deep breathing and working on mobility and flexibility with elements of these eastern disciplines.
Functional strength
- Balance and Leg Strength - Balancing your body – on one leg or two – trains the leg muscles and stabili sing postural muscles that support great posture.
- Strength (1) - Use the VIVE™ tube to work and build strength in specific muscles.
- Strength (2) - Use the VIVE™ tube to work and build strength in specific muscles. Core and restore.
- Ab Strengthener - Strengthen and tone the deep and superficial muscles of the abdomen with slow and controlled Pilates-based moves using the VIVE™ ball.
- Back Care - A combination of strength and mobility work performed on the floor.
- Release and Restore - Long-held stretches to unwind the body and complete the class.
