I don't have a class at the moment. What do you suggest I do to get my video done?
We still need to receive your video by your 12-week deadline date. The club that provided your letter of affiliation should be able to support you in getting your video done.
Suggestions:
Hold a one-off hour-long class at a time when the studio is available, teaching friends and colleagues if necessary.
Teach someone else's one-hour class if possible.
For up-to-date information on upcoming Les Mills training courses please visit our website on
http://www.fitpro.com/bts/modules.cfm
Les Mills programmes are recognised worldwide and the certification you receive in the UK allows you to teach at any club in the world that holds the appropriate licence.

My tape/battery ran out just before the end of the class. Can I still send it in?
No! The assessment requires that you submit a video/DVD that shows your whole class from the very start (pre-class interaction) to the very end (post-class interaction). You will not be able to pass the assessment if all the tracks are not included. You will need to record your class again.
Suggestions:
Have a spare tape/battery on hand. We will accept videos/DVDs that include a tape/battery change but these must be quick and must not significantly interfere with the assessment. Please include a note on your self-analysis form for your assessor's information.
Use mains power supply if possible.
I only have a 45-minute class.
Video submissions must show a one-hour class (with the exception of RPM, which is 50mins) showing ALL tracks for the programme. This is required to demonstrate competency to teach the programme and to gain international certification. A 45-minute video/DVD submission will automatically be withheld.
Suggestions:
Extend the length of your class if possible.
Teach a one-off hour-long class at a time when the studio is available, teaching friends and colleagues if necessary. Teach someone else's one-hour class if available.

How much is the video assessment fee?
£30.00 (including VAT) for a full video and £20 for a resubmission. This is payable by debit/credit card over the phone by calling +44 (0)20 8586 8637, or by purchase order or cheque (to be made payable to Fitness Professionals). Please include your name, programme and FitPro membership number. Please DO NOT send cash.
I'm not going to get my video in on time what can I do?
We are only able to grant extensions for videos for either medical reasons or in extreme circumstances. These will have to be backed up by written proof. Submissions received after the due date will not be assessed.
Has my video/DVD been received by FitPro?
If you sent your video/DVD by recorded or special delivery, you can check the tracking reference number on the Royal Mail website: www.royalmail.com Alternatively, contact FitPro on +44 (0)20 8586 8637 and we will be able to confirm receipt of your video/DVD over the phone.
Please try where possible to send your video via recorded or special delivery. FitPro is not liable for videos that are lost in the post nor will any extensions be given for this reason, so please make sure you send in your video with plenty of time to spare.
When will I receive my results?
Please allow up to eight weeks for your assessment results to be emailed to you. Your results will be sent to you as soon as they have been received from the assessor and our records have been updated. If your video has been with FitPro for longer than eight weeks, please contact the certification team.
I need to resubmit my video do I have to use the same release as my first video/DVD?
Yes any resubmissions need to be on the same release.
Does my resubmission video/DVD have to be taken from a full class?
Yes, your video/DVD must be taken from a full class. If your resubmission requires particular tracks, then you may stop the recording during your class to only film the required tracks. Please be aware that, if you film additional tracks that the assessor has not requested, these may be assessed too.

How can I get a Les Mills video for home use?
At present the only DVDs available for any of the Les Mills programmes are those specifically designed for the programme instructors. These videos are filmed on the understanding that they will be viewed by individuals certified in Group Exercise Instruction and who hold a recognised anatomy and physiology qualification. The videos are therefore not suitable for home use by the general public. Additionally, copyright is held for the music used in all Les Mills videos and so prohibits any distribution to non licence holders.
How many attempts do I get to gain my certification?
You have up to six months after your initial training to become certified. Within this time, you can resubmit as many videos as you need to. If you are not certified after six months, you will need to redo all or part of the training.
I've completed my initial training but am not yet fully certified. Can I buy the new release?
You are able to purchase one release and attend one quarterly workshop between your initial training and video deadline. Once we have your video in, you can then purchase another release and attend one more quarterly workshop.
Please note that, if you are given an extension period or your video is overdue, the above does not apply. Also, if you attend a quarterly workshop before you are fully certified, this unfortunately does not count towards your ongoing education requirements.
Do I need a PPL licence?
Yes. You will need a PPL licence in order to purchase the new releases. You will need to have this before you begin teaching to the public and your video will not be assessed without one.
You can purchase a licence through FP Music or any recognised PPL provider.
I have a PPL licence through another company. Is this acceptable?
Yes, this is fine. Please note that you will need to submit your PPL licence details to us when either submitting your video for assessment or when purchasing music through us.
I've heard some programmes have express versions. What does this mean?
All official class formats are covered in the programme manual that instructors receive when trained. Any changes to these since training will have been communicated via quarterly education.
BODYPUMP and BODYBALANCE have official formats for 60mins and 45mins, while BODYPUMP has a special 30-minute format. These are intended for limited use only where clubs have a real need for an express format for example, to fit busy schedules or to provide new participants with an opportunity to try the class and build their technique, strength and confidence.
BODYPUMP 30-minute format
Track 1: warm-up
Track 2: legs/squats
Track 3: chest
Track 4: back
Track 9: core
Stretching is done during the transitions at the end of every track. For participants using the 30-minute format regularly, instructors need to communicate the importance of including developmental stretching as part of their general fitness programming and in addition to that done in the express class.
The new format was outlined in Release 68.
BODYPUMP 45-minute format
Track 1: warm-up
Track 2: legs/squats
Track 3: chest
Track 4: back
Track 7: legs/lunges
Track 8: shoulders
Track 9: core
Track 10: cool-down
BODYBALANCE 45-minute format
1. Tai Chi warm-up (Tai Chi, martial arts)
2. Sun salutations (yoga)
3. Standing strength (yoga, Tai Chi)
4. Balance (yoga, Tai Chi, dance)
5. Core abdominals (Pilates, yoga)
6. Core back (Pilates, yoga)
7. Forward bends hamstrings (yoga, Tai Chi)
8. Relaxation/meditation (yoga, meditation)

I'm pregnant. How do I keep my certification active?
We can put your certification on hold for up to 12 months while you are on maternity leave. You will not need to attend quarterly workshops or purchase the releases during this time.
To put your certification on hold, please contact the training team on +44 (0)20 8586 8637 to advise them of this. You will then need to let us know when you are back teaching. If this is within the 12 months, your certification will be reactivated and you can continue as normal. If you need longer than 12 months, you will need to resit all or part of the initial training to become active.
I'm injured but don't want to lose my certification. What do I do?
We can put your certification on hold for up to 12 months* while you recover. You will not need to attend quarterly workshops or purchase the releases during this time.
To put your certification on hold, please contact the training team on +44 (0)20 8586 8637 to advise them of your situation. This will need to be backed up by a medical note from your doctor.
*The length of time granted is dependent on the recovery time stated by your doctor.

Participants must be 16 years old or over.
I certified in another country. Can I teach in the UK?
Yes, we can transfer your Les Mills certification so that you can teach in the UK. You will need to send us copies of your certificates (both Les Mills and your fitness qualification). You will also need to ask the Les Mills agent in the country in which you trained to send an email to training@fitpro.com to confirm that you are certified (we will need the name of the programmes and the date you certified) and that you are up to date with your Quarterly Workshops.
Once we have this, you will need to sign our Deed of Understanding (please see the Les Mills Instructor Guide for a copy of this or request one from the training team). You will also need to have a PPL licence in order to play music in your classes and to purchase the releases from us.
